Second Chance, Inc. creates "green collar jobs" by taking apart buildings that would otherwise be demolished and dumped in a landfill.  We then offer the reclaimed materials to the public at a discount, helping fund our job training and workforce development programs.

    Employment Focus

"Employment raises dignity and inspires hope. Dignity and hope support better decision making, which benefits individuals and communities."
    -Mark Foster

At the core of the mission of Second Chance is a commitment to employing the unemployed, underemployed, and others facing barriers to employment.  Training is certainly part of the process, but it is only a means to the end.  The real goal for Second Chance is to create living-wage, green-collar jobs and to train people to succeed in them.

Since our inception, Second Chance has hired the people it trains.  By offering both training opportunities and jobs in a growing industry of the new Green Economy, the Second Chance model provides a powerful pathway to sustainable careers for Baltimore citizens facing the most difficult employment challenges.  The impact this has on the lives of our workforce, their families, and the greater community is undeniable.
