“Best Place to Buy Used Furniture” – Baltimore City Paper’s Best of Baltimore 2011

September 2011 – “Best Place to Buy Used Furniture” Baltimore City Paper’s Best of Baltimore 2011 (Goods Section)

This massive maze of rooms on the northern edge of the Second Chance empire makes for a fun Saturday morning of furniture shopping. The collection is a mix of consigned pieces and items Second Chance has acquired in its mission to train workers while collecting architectural salvage. Prices are usually pretty reasonable, and you’ll likely find the right armchair or dresser. But stumbling across over-the-top items, like the hand-carved burled oak bedroom set so gaudy only a megalomaniacal nouveau riche financier would own it or the fake John Calvert statue that appeared in an episode of The Wire, makes for furniture shopping with a touch of the absurd.
